Welcome to the Obello how-to series.
In this video, we’ll explore one of Obello’s really cool editor features — the ability to use shapes as masks for both images and videos.
Setting Up the Shapes
- Start by opening a template in the editor.
- From the left navigation, go to Shapes and select a Square.
- Adjust the corner radius if you want rounded edges, then add a couple of shapes to your canvas and position them however you like.
Masking an Image
- Select your first shape and click Insert Media.
- This opens your Photography Library.
- Pick an image you like — it’s automatically cropped and placed inside the shape, becoming a perfect image mask.
Masking a Video
- Select your second shape and again choose Insert Media, but this time go to your Video Library.
- Choose a video — for example, a coffee clip — and it will also be cropped and placed inside the shape.
Previewing the Result
- Once both shapes have media applied, click Play to preview your design.
- You’ll see your image and video beautifully framed within their shapes.
Using Custom SVG Shapes
You can even add image masks to custom SVG shapes for more creative flexibility. We’ll cover how to create custom SVGs in another tutorial.
Wrapping Up
That’s how you can use shapes as masks for both images and videos in Obello. Thanks for watching — see you in the next video.
