Creating Master Templates

Welcome to the Obello how-to series.

In this video, we’ll show how to publish reusable master templates in Obello — a powerful way to help your team quickly create content while maintaining brand consistency.

    Why Master Templates Matter

Publishing master templates allows your team to self-serve approved designs, saving time and ensuring every piece of content stays true to your brand system and design team intentions.

It’s an essential workflow for scaling your marketing content engine efficiently.

    Starting the Process

    1. Begin in your Team Projects folder.
    2. Open a template that has already been approved by your brand or design team by double-clicking it to open in Obello’s editor.

    Publishing a Template

    1. In the editor, go to the top right corner and select Share → Publish to Master Templates.
    2. Click Publish, and you’ll receive a confirmation message once it’s live.
    3. Next, go back to the Template Gallery and select Templates.
    4. You’ll now see your new Master Template added to the gallery.

    Using a Master Template

Now, imagine you’re a social media manager creating a new post.

    1. Open the master template from the gallery.
    2. If you’re an Admin or Editor, you’ll see an option to Edit Master — selecting this opens the original master template for layout or design updates.
    3. You can also delete the master template from this view.

If you’re not an admin or editor, you won’t see this option.

    • Instead, when you open a master template, a copy is automatically saved to your private folder.
    • This means any changes you make will not affect the original master.

    Editing as a Creator

    • As a creator, your permissions depend on control settings managed by admins and editors.
    • You may be restricted from moving elements, adjusting animations, or changing image properties like corner radius.
    • In this demo, we’ll replace the image and use WordSmith to rewrite the headline — simple edits that keep the design structure intact.

    Sharing or Exporting Your Version

    1. When your edits are complete, go back to Share in the top right corner.
    2. From here, you can copy a link to send your design for review, or download it in various file formats for publishing or distribution.

    Wrapping Up

And that’s it — that’s how you create, publish, and use master templates in Obello.

This workflow keeps your team aligned, efficient, and always on-brand.
